It's time for a hike, and that's true year-round in and around Oberstdorf. From the first spring hikes, when the snow slowly recedes, through summer to the colorful autumn with its magnificent views. Even in winter, you'll find groomed hiking trails.
A total of over 200 kilometers of hiking trails await you at three different altitudes in the southern Oberallgäu region.
A landmark of Oberstdorf is the Nebelhorn; at the top, you have a fabulous view of 400 peaks that even we can't get enough of! In the Allgäu Alps, the neighboring Kleinwalsertal (Austria), or the Hörner villages, you'll find panoramic peaks, delicious places to stop for refreshments, and wonderful hiking trails of varying heights and difficulty. Thanks to some mountain railways, you have the option of reaching some mountains by gondola, saving you the ascent and descent and allowing you to fully enjoy the hike on the panoramic trails around the peaks. Even little explorers are sure to love a cable car ride ;) Many cable cars are also wheelchair accessible.
Do you occasionally need more rock and a bit more of a thrill? Then the via ferratas in the Allgäu Alps might be just the thing for you. One of the most famous routes is the Hindelanger Klettersteig. It's not only particularly scenic and exposed, but also very long, with a walking time of four hours.

Via ferratas around Oberstdorf
Do you occasionally need more rock and a bit more of a thrill? Then the via ferratas in the Allgäu Alps might be just the thing for you. One of the most famous routes is the Hindelanger Klettersteig, which not only offers particularly scenic views and is exposed, but also very long, with a walking time of 4 hours.
The via ferrata on the Kanzelwand is considered moderately difficult. It's an exciting but easier alternative to the Zwei-Länder-Sportklettersteig (two-country sport via ferrata). It's suitable for both amateurs and beginners.
