From the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf to Gerstruben and the Dietersbachalpe

Whether you're on bike or on foot, a trip to the mountain farming village of Gerstruben is worthwhile. And if that's not enough for you, you can extend the tour to the Dietersbachalpe.

Suitable for hikers and bikers: From Oberstdorf to Gerstruben

This extended tour starts at the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf. Continue along the banks of the Breitach and then the Iller until a bridge crosses the Iller. Here, turn right and return to the source of the Iller on the opposite bank. It's beautiful, isn't it?

Now follow the cycle path and footpath along the Trettach until you reach the ice rink in Oberstdorf. At the Oybelewiese, enter the Trettachtal, where you always follow the signs to Gerstruben.

Shortly after the Landhaus Dietersberg, the paved road leads up to Gerstruben - bikers turn off here. Are you a hiker? Then we have a tip for you: Continue into the Trettach Valley to the "Mummestüble" rest stop. Here you'll find the entrance to the Hölltobel. The path over the Hölltöbel is 1,000 times more beautiful than the paved road - we promise :-) And it's worth taking a break at the impressive waterfall.

After the rest, it's not far to Gerstruben. Here you can either stop at the mountain inn of the same name or head to the Dietersbachalpe at the end of the valley (approx. 1 hour walk from Gerstruben). After a delicious snack and a refreshing drink, you'll be strengthened for the return journey. You'll now return to the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf the same way. What a day!
