Access to the castle via the shuttle bus is largely barrier-free: After disembarking, it's approximately 500 meters to the castle along a gently sloping, paved path.

Inside the castle, there is an elevator for wheelchair users. Please notify us in advance of your need, as only a limited number of people can use the elevator per hour.

The best view of the castle is undoubtedly from Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge). No wonder there can be queues, as everyone wants to showcase this stunning view on their profile. Please note: The bridge is open from mid-May to early November, but is closed during the winter due to weather conditions.

Neuschwanstein Castle is most pleasant to visit in spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October), outside of school holidays and during the week. The scenery is particularly beautiful then, and the number of visitors is significantly lower than in summer. Photo tip: The enchanting fairytale castle appears especially atmospheric and almost magical early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

The Explorer Hotel Neuschwanstein is located approximately 24 kilometers from the castle, about a 25-minute drive.

With your guest card, you can also take the bus for free: From the Nesselwang Kurapotheke bus stop, take bus line 71 to Füssen and then continue on line 78 to the castle (journey time: approximately 1.5 hours).

Of course, there are also beautiful, challenging bike routes to the castle, also about 24 kilometers long and taking approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.

Important: The last stretch from the valley floor must always be covered on foot (approximately 30 minutes), by horse-drawn carriage, or by shuttle bus.

There isn't a dedicated restaurant. Instead, there's the Explorer Bar, which is not only a relaxed meeting place but also offers delicious snacks in addition to drinks: various salads, sandwiches, pizza... and a daily special. Come by and treat yourself!
