Falkenstein Castle is a high medieval castle ruin near Pfronten in the eastern Allgäu region and absolutely worth a visit during your holiday in Nesselwang.
From the viewing platform, you have a breathtaking view of the Allgäu Alps, the Alpine foothills, and even Neuschwanstein Castle.
Fun fact: This castle ruin is also known as "King Ludwig's Last Dream." And why King Ludwig II again? Well, he wanted to build his last dream castle here, which was to be far larger than Neuschwanstein Castle. But unfortunately, it never came to fruition, so only a ruin remains.
