That’s why in our rooms we have more than enough storage space for your equipment. In addition, we have a ski and bike test centre that includes rentals, courses, a workbench and sports lockers – and great deals for athletes, too!

Hiking

The Jenner is the Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden's home mountain. Situated only a few minutes on foot from the hotel, the mountain railway will comfortably bring you up to an altitude of 1800 metres. From here you can start on numerous hiking and mountain tours or simply enjoy the spectacular view into the valley and Lake Königssee located 1200 metres further below.

Hike to the Mitterkaser alp:
From the Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden, you will hike up the Jenner along the Königsweg (king's trail). Along the trail to the Jenner rail's intermediate station, you are afforded a wonderful view of Lake Königssee before descending back down into the valley.

Lake Königssee

Here you will find a selection of hiking routes at Lake Königssee with the famous St. Batholomä pilgrimage church. Have you ever taken the boat to go for a hike?

Malerwinkel loop trail:
This hike leads you through Berchtesgaden National Park. Here you will enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Königssee. A bit further on you will encounter Malerwinkel and from here you'll have a view of St. Batholomä pilgrimage church located on the opposite bank.

Watzmann

The Watzmann massif is the landmark of Berchtesgadener Land. In order to discover the Watzmann family, you don't have to ascend the 2,713-metre centre peak; hiking around the mountain is just as exciting!

Mountain tour to the Watzmann:
Welcome to the entrance to the Berchtesgaden mountain of fortune! Numerous myths and tales surround this mountain, which is the region's landmark and the third-highest mountain in Germany.

Mountainbike

The best biking tours can be found close to the hotel!

Kühroinhütte (mountain hut) – Archenkanzel:
Taking the secured forest trail you will arrive at the Kühroinhütte. Enjoy the wonderful view of the Watzmann and the surrounding area while you take a much-deserved break before passing the Archenkanzel and returning back to the valley.

Day trip around Hohen Göll:
This is where it gets strenuous! You'll have to overcome a 2,000 metre difference in altitude. However, your effort will be worth it! You will be rewarded with panoramic views into Bluntautal and of the landmark of the Berchtesgadener Land: the Watzmann

Salzburg

... is a mere 35 km from the Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden and is always worth a trip! Mozart lived here until he was 26 years old. Today, the house located at Getreidegasse 9 is a museum dedicated to Mozart's life. The landmark of Salzburg is situated on a hill above the town - the Hohensalzburg Castle. You'll have an excellent view across the city of Salzburg!

Kehlsteinhaus

You should not miss the Kehlsteinhaus, in particular because of its 124-metre high elevator that leads through the mountain and because of the magnificent view!

"The Eagle's Nest" is also worth the trip! There is also an exhibition that details the history of Obersalzberg.

Salt mine Berchtesgaden

Salt, the white gold, once laid buried deep beneath the earth. That's where you can still find it today, but we've found ways and means to make it much more accessible than in the past :-)

With the mine train, slides and a trip across Lake Spiegelsee, it is definitely an adventure!

National park & visitors' centre

There are over 230 km of trails criss-crossing through the Berchtesgaden National Park.

A particular highlight is the newly opened "Haus der Berge" (house of the mountains). Here you will receive lots of useful information about the national park, the local wildlife and the Alps.

Jennerbahn

Breakfast, ski boots and off you go to the Jennerbahn – can you think of a better way to start your vacation?

The Jennerbahn's valley station is located only a few minutes from the Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden. The highlight of the skiing area is the 7 km long valley ski run!

Götschen

Small but amazing – and every Friday the lights come on!

With about 5 km of downhill slopes, the Götschen Ski Centre is not the biggest ski area, but it definitely has a lot to offer! Aside from to the FIS (International Ski Federation) slope, where the floodlights come on every Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., there are also 6 other slopes that cover all levels of difficulty.

Roßfeld

Funpark and boarder cross route in the most snow-sure family ski area in Berchtesgadener Land.

Do you want to go skiing or snowboarding with a view of Salzburg? Not a problem in the Roßfeld ski area! In addition to the imposing panoramic view, you can also test your limits on the snowboarder cross route and in the Funpark.

Sledging & tubing

Using the wooden sledge, you can speed down the hill – that's not just a lot of fun for the young ones. In Berchtesgaden, you can also enjoy lots of high-speed fun, even without skis or snowboards.

At the ski lifts in Obersalzbergwerk, you can race down a tubing slope in a huge rubber tube! And you don't even have to walk up the hill because there is a special tow lift that will bring you to the top. The absolute highlight: On Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the tubing slope is illuminated by floodlights!

Bobsled-Taxi

You need even more action?

Then the bobsled taxi is the right thing for you! Reaching top speeds of 120 km/h (approx. 70 mph), the experienced bobsled "taxi" driver will speed you down the ice channel at Lake Königssee.

Through the Devil's Mill, the Snake Pit, the Turbodrom Roundabout – 1,200 metres (approx. 3/4 mile) down the bobsled ice channel run.
