Hiking on holiday at Lake Königssee
You're surely familiar with them, the famous classics in the Berchtesgadener Land. The Königssee, which you can easily incorporate into your hike, or which you can gaze down upon from the peaks of the surrounding mountains. And the Watzmann, for some the most beautiful mountain in the world, a major attraction and a huge challenge.
But Berchtesgaden National Park offers much more than these two classics. A total of 230 kilometers of signposted hiking trails await you.
The trails range from easy valley paths to easy and moderately difficult mountain trails to difficult climbs.
You'll find beautiful hiking trails of every difficulty, and ambitious climbers and families alike will find plenty to enjoy on their vacation at Explorer Berchtesgaden.
What we recommend for all tours, whether easy or difficult, is a stop at one of the numerous rustic alpine huts. Here you can recharge your batteries, relax your legs, and fully enjoy the moment in the mountains.
In addition to the famous Königssee and its little brother, the Obersee, we also recommend a trip to the very kitschy but beautiful Hintersee near Ramsau. You can walk around the lake, go boating, or start your hike here.
If you don't mind the wet, you should definitely hike through the Almbachklamm and Wimmbachklamm.
Mountain railways & accessibility
Around Berchtesgaden, you have the opportunity to explore the mountains with the assistance of mountain railways. The new Jennerbahn cable car and the local restaurants are completely barrier-free. The Obersalzberg and Predigtstuhl cable cars are historic. Only folding wheelchairs and strollers can be transported on the Predigtstuhl cable car.
The Klausbachtal valley is a model barrier-free region. The paths are wheelchair-accessible, there are plenty of seating options, and even a suspension bridge suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
