Peak hopping on your summer vacation in the Allgäu
The tour starts at the valley station of the Mittagbahn cable car in Immenstadt. From there, take the first chairlift ride up to the Mittag – now the summit hunt can begin.
Ready, set, go!
From the Mittag, follow the signs towards Bärenkopf/Steineberg and enjoy the view of the southern Illertal valley and the Allgäu main ridge. After about 15 minutes, you reach the Bärenkopf, and the next summit becomes visible: the Steineberg.
Below the summit, there is a 17-meter-high summit ladder for the very brave. If you're still a bit too tired for so much adrenaline in the morning, take the path below the summit and ascend from the back.
After a short break, the route continues via Stuiben and Sedererstuiben. Shortly after the summit of Stuiben, there's the option of descending via Alpe Gund into the Steigbachtal valley and returning towards the valley station in Immenstadt.
Otherwise, it's time to gather strength for the next summits, because the Buralpkopf and the Rindalphorn are already calling.
Once you've passed these two summits, the final climb is the Hochgrat. From here, take the Hochgratbahn cable car back to the valley, take the bus to the train station in Oberstaufen, and then take the train back to the starting point in Immenstadt.
