Summit Hopping on Your Summer Vacation in the Allgäu
The starting point is the valley station of the Mittagbahn cable car in Immenstadt. From there, take the first chairlift ride up to the Mittag summit – now the summit hunt can begin!
Ready, set, go!
From the Mittag, follow the signs towards Bärenkopf/Steineberg and enjoy the view into the southern Iller Valley and the Allgäu main ridge. After about 15 minutes, you'll reach the Bärenkopf and the next summit will come into view: the Steineberg.
Below the summit, there's a 17-meter-high summit ladder for the truly adventurous. Anyone who's still a bit too tired for so much adrenaline in the morning can take the path below the summit and climb it from the back.
After a short breather, the route continues via Stuiben and Sedererstuiben. Shortly after the summit of the Stuiben, there's the option to descend via the Alpe Gund into the Steigbach valley and return towards the valley station in Immenstadt.
Otherwise, it's time to refuel for the next peaks, because the Buralpkopf and the Rindalphorn are already calling.
Once you've passed these two peaks, the final leg is up the Hochgrat. From here, you can take the Hochgrat cable car back down to the valley, the bus to the train station in Oberstaufen, and the train back to the starting point in Immenstadt.
