Hiking at lofty heights in the Oberstdorf Mountains - High-altitude trails in the Allgäu Alps
Ascent with the Nebelhornbahn cable car to the Höfatsblick mountain station. It's recommended to take one of the first cable cars, as the day in the mountains will be long ;) From the Höfatsblick station, hike along a well-maintained path until you reach the Zeigersattel.
Continue on an alpine trail. You are below the Schochen. Once you reach the Schochensattel, you will cross the terrain below the Lachenkopf using a traverse.
Caution: The most difficult sections are secured with steel cables. This section is one of the most technically demanding of the entire tour.
The trail continues up numerous switchbacks and a fairly steep grassy slope towards the Laufbacher Eck. When descending, it is recommended to be particularly careful at the beginning, as snow can remain here well into spring.
Then follow the path to the Himmelecksattel. This is followed by a long, steep descent over the Wildenfeld to the Käseralpe. How about a well-deserved snack?
You continue hiking past the impressive Stuibenfall waterfall, the lower Gutenalpe pasture, and the Oytalhaus until you reach the Kühberg. From there, Oberstdorf isn't far.
Alternative: Rent an Oytal scooter at the Oytalhaus and zip back to Oberstdorf in complete relaxation - your tired feet will thank you ;)
