Where better to end a day than in the lounge? This is the hotel's communicative hub. With modern design and high-quality reclaimed wood elements, chill-out music, and a relaxed atmosphere. You'll meet other guests, chat with the Explorer Buddies about your day and the tours you've planned, and sample our selection of high-quality gins and sandwiches.
By the way: Three letters from our logo are already hidden in the lounge. They're actually quite cozy. Have you ever been to our hotel and discovered them?

At the Explorer Bar, you'll find a selection of fine, diverse gins. From classic to unusual, you'll find everything. Here are our current favorite gins. You can enjoy them neat or with a tonic!

In this fantastic gin, fine spirits sommelier Wolfgang Kaufmann combines the rugged notes of the mountains with juniper, citrus, and delicate spices such as ginger, orange, and chamomile. This fine wine is distilled in Ellmau, overlooking the Wilder Kaiser mountain range.

A gin that's actually a liqueur! 47 ingredients, including hand-picked sloe berries from Lake Constance, give this delicious dark spirit its fruity, tart flavor. Experts taste citrus, pepper, and subtle bitter fruit notes.

Probably the best-known of the upscale gins, it has a sweet, fruity aroma and a light peppery note. Citrus and juniper aromas are more subdued here. This London Dry Gin has a smoother taste than others of its kind.

Delicate rose petals and fresh, tart cucumber are the two characteristic ingredients of this gin, which isn't for everyone. With its exceptional aroma, it's one of the most important modern gins.
...are clearly our four sandwiches. Fresh and crispy, hot, and with a little spice—exactly what you'd expect from an evening companion. But our four stars can do even more. They tell the story of four of the world's greatest explorers!

Discoverer of the Sea Route to India
The Portuguese Dom Vasco da Gama, Count of Vidigueira, lived from 1469 to 1524 and is considered one of the greatest sailors of his time. Around 500 years ago, he was the first to discover the sea route to India.
The then King Manuel I of Portugal commissioned him to find this sea route and thus access to cheaper spices. On July 8, 1497, he set sail with 170 men, circumnavigated West and East Africa, and arrived in India just under a year later on May 20, 1498.

Discoverer of America
The Italian sailor Cristoforo Colombo, in the service of Castile, lived from 1451 to 1506. He, too, was tasked with finding a sea route to India to facilitate the spice and silk trade. However, he miscalculated the circumference of the earth, lost the race to Portugal, and landed on one of the Bahamas islands instead in 1492. Firmly believing he had landed in India, he called the country's inhabitants "Indians." Today, he is considered the discoverer of America, even though the Vikings set foot on the American continent much earlier.

Explorer of the South Seas
The British explorer James Cook lived from 1728 to 1779. On his many voyages, he not only crossed all the oceans and discovered many countries, but also mapped their coastlines.
On his first voyage, he set sail on the famous "Endeavour" and was commissioned by the Crown to find the legendary southern continent. Instead, he discovered New Zealand and Australia. His two subsequent voyages took him to New Caledonia and finally to the "Sandwich Islands" of Hawaii - how fitting :)

Asia's youngest explorer and most famous traveler
The Italian Asia traveler (1254-1324) came from a Venetian merchant family and became famous for his accounts of his journey to Imperial China.
At the age of 17, he began his journey to China, where, over the years, he traveled throughout Asia on behalf of the Mongolian ruler Kublai Khan, recording his impressions. It wasn't until 20 years later that he returned to Venice with his uncle and father – homesick.
