Active holidays in the Kitzbühel Alps in Tyrol
This is new at the Explorer Hotel Kitzbühel: trail running camps with experienced guides. In addition to the classic two-day Explorer Camp, which runs from Friday to Sunday as usual, in 2023 there will be a three-day camp for the first time, from Thursday to Sunday, with trail running guide Werner Sturm.
At both camps, you'll benefit from Werner's diverse training as a certified marathon, triathlon, and trail running guide. Werner has helpful tips on running technique and athletic training as well as post-race recovery. At the three-day camp, the group experience and the learning intensity are naturally greater due to the longer duration.
Trail running guide Werner will take you on the trails in the Kitzbühel Alps around the hotel in St. Johann in Tirol from May 11-14 or October 20-22.

Thursday
4:00 PM: Welcome, briefing, and brief introductions
5:00 PM: Running-specific warm-up & short trail run
6:30 PM: Dinner together
Followed by: Keynote speech on trail running
Friday
7:00 AM: Breakfast
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Trail Run 1 with technique analysis and breaks
Approx. 2:00 PM: Return to the hotel & free time
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Regeneration through fascial movement & Blackroll
Followed by: Dinner
Followed by: Relaxing end to the evening
Saturday
7:00-8:30 a.m.: Early Bird Run
Followed by: Breakfast
2:00-5:00 p.m.: Trail Run 2 including testing equipment and breaks
Approx. 5:00 p.m.: Return to the hotel and time to relax in the sports spa
6:30-7:30 p.m.: Trail Running & Training Planning Basics Workshop

Requirements for participation in the camps
You should have some running experience, and you should be able to comfortably run for up to 2 hours on flat terrain.
Some mountain experience (elevation gains on ascents and descents) is also definitely an advantage for the camps in St. Johann in Tirol.
Mandatory equipment
- Trail running shoes: Running shoes with appropriate protection and suitable soles
- Running backpack with hydration reservoir (at least 1 liter of water reserve)
- Food: Gels, energy bars, isotonic drinks
- Clothing: Windbreaker, light rain jacket, running hat, and running gloves
- GPS watch/smartphone
