Hiking through the Reintal Valley to the Zugspitze
The long mountain hike to the Zugspitze can be done either as a day trip or as a two-day tour with an overnight stay at the Reintalangerhütte or the Knorrhütte. Important: The last descent of the Zugspitze cable car is at 4:45 p.m.
How do you get to the Zugspitze?
The tour to the Zugspitze starts at the Olympiaschanze ski jump in the Partenkirchen district. From the Explorer Hotel in Farchant, you can take either the bus or car to the starting point and park your car in the paid parking lot.
The trail first leads through the Partnachklamm gorge via the Bockhütte to the Reintalangerhütte, which invites you to stop for a break. Refreshed, you then continue to the Knorrhütte at 2,054 m. If you're not staying overnight here, continue directly toward Zugspitzplatt.
From the Sonn-Alpin valley station, the trail leads through a scree field via the Schneefernerhaus to the Zugspitze. You've finally reached your destination!
The Zugspitzbahn cable car takes you back to the valley. Please be sure to check the Zugspitzbahn's operating times!
