Bike tour through Farchant to the Ester Mountains
You start directly at the Explorer Hotel in Farchant, pass the train station, and then quickly reach the cycle path along the B2 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After a short while, turn left onto Münchner Straße and follow it to the "Sebastianskircherl"
Continue through the historic "Ludwigstraße", past the church, and through the town center. At the end of Ludwigstraße, turn left; from here, it becomes a bit more strenuous. Follow the left turn and, after 200 m, turn right again until the end of the paved road.
Now comes the climb up to the "Gschwandtner Bauer". Behind the inn, cross a meadow, then turn left. Now all you need to do is follow the signs for "Finz/Esterberg Alm" until you reach the "Schweizer Alpe" (Swiss Alp), where you turn left again towards "Finz/Esterberg Alm".
With a short detour to the "Finz" over a small bridge, and after a few strenuous climbs, you finally reach the tour's destination: the "Farchanter Alm". After a short rest, continue to the "Esterberg Alm" and the southern end of the high valley.
Towards the end, it's really steep again: the descent to Partenkirchen past the Dax Chapel is at times 26%. Once you've raced down the mountain, follow the paved road to the right, pass under the "Wankbahn" cable car, and return to the Explorer Hotel in Farchant. What a tour!
