Start of the day tour to the legendary Breitenberg peak near Pfronten
After approximately 13 minutes by car, you will reach the start of your tour. From the welcome area at the Haus des Gastes in Pfronten, the path first leads you along the Pfronten Valley, through the Steinach district, and finally to the valley station of the Breitenbergbahn cable car.
On the way to the Hochalpe, you will hike through the Reichenbach Gorge and enjoy incredible views of the imposing ravine of the waterfalls.
From the Hochalpe, the path continues to the former Customs Officer's Hut. At the foot of the Aggenstein peak, you continue across wide high pastures, past the chairlift station, and finally up to the Ostler Hut on the summit of the Breitenberg. Tip On the sun terrace of the Ostlerhütte, you'll not only have a magnificent view of the Tyrolean Alps, but also enjoy a hearty meal.
The descent follows the ridge through a mixed forest down into the valley to the Gasthof Fallmühle with its cozy beer garden. Here, you can either stop for another break or continue straight on along the shaded path back to Pfronten.
Facts to brag about
The so-called Venediger Castle awaits you at Aggenstein. It's not a real castle, but a fascinating natural structure. Because people used to fear the mountains, numerous legends arose over many years in an attempt to explain the mountain landscape. In the Middle Ages, people from Venice came to the Allgäu in search of minerals. Their knowledge was uncanny to the locals, and so they became part of the local mythology.
