Alpine Hike to the Ahornspitze in the Zillertal
The starting point of this hike is the Ahorn Plateau. To save a few meters, you can take the mountaineering gondola in Mayrhofen. This departs a little earlier, before the Ahornbahn cable car starts operating normally. From here, the hiking trail begins quite pleasantly, past the Ahornsee Lake and initially leads you up a gentle, steep climb. Soon, the path becomes steeper and leads you further and further up through green meadows. There may even still be snow up here, and you must be careful to stay on the marked trail.
The last few meters require a lot of concentration. But perseverance is definitely worth it, because you'll soon reach the summit cross of the Ahornspitze! (Besides, turning back in the middle of the hike wouldn't be such a smart idea either 😊)
Up at 2,973 m, you'll have a fantastic view of the Zillertal Alps. Feel free to linger here for a while before heading back.
P.S. On the way to the Ahornspitze, you can take a short break at the Edelshütte and refuel - or you can pack a snack and enjoy it at the summit :)
