Family Adventure: Hike through the Partnach Gorge to the Eckbauer
This hike promises not only adventurous paths through dark caves, insights into the natural power of the whitewater, but also a breathtaking mountain panorama from the Eckbauer viewing summit, with a fantastic view of the Zugspitze!
The hike starts directly at the parking lot of the ski jumping stadium in the Partenkirchen district. From there, you walk towards the Partnach Gorge. You can either walk to the gorge, always following the road and the Partnach River, or take one of the horse-drawn carriages, also called "Fiaker," to the gorge.
On the narrow path through the gorge between the huge rock face, a railing, and loud, babbling water. Don't forget to duck your head in some places - it can get quite narrow here! Please also note that the gorge is not suitable for strollers due to the narrowness of the gorge path.
After about half an hour, you will have reached the end of the gorge. From now on, the Eckbauer is your next destination! Turn left and go up many wooden steps and, after climbing many stairs, you will reach the Wettersteinalm! There you can take a short break.
Ready for the climb to the summit of the Eckbauer? The hiking trail to the summit is initially steep, then you hike for about 30 minutes through the forest, directly to the Eckbauer Mountain Inn.
Finally there! The mountain inn, with its sun terrace, offers you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the view of the Wetterstein Mountains and take a break!
You have two options for returning to the valley: Either continue the route back via the mountain village of Wamberg or take a short walk to the Eckbauerbahn mountain station and take the gondolas down.
