Trail run on the Jägersberg near Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region
Starting from the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf, head towards the source of the Iller River. Continue along the Iller dam for the first few meters until you reach a bridge.
Here, leave the Iller dam to the left and run towards Langenwang. First, cross the railway tracks, then the traffic lights, and follow the small road to the edge of the forest, where you'll find the entrance towards Jägersberg and Ochsenkopf. From here, the route mostly goes uphill through the forest, with repeated, magnificent views of the Oberstdorf mountains. The changing terrain makes the tour varied, as does the Jewish Church – an imposing rock arch about 15 meters wide and about 5 meters high; you should definitely take a breather here.
A short downhill takes you towards the Wasach district. When you reach St. Barbara's Church, a small road leads diagonally to the right, from which a hiking trail branches off.
Now it's on to Sulzburg. There's no castle to see here, but there's an impressive panorama of Oberstdorf.
The route now descends slightly through the forest until you reach a road, which leads you towards the Wasach Clinic (the building with the distinctive tower). Just before the specialist clinic, take the turnoff to the right and follow the paved road downhill. At a hairpin bend, the trail turns right onto a small path. Turn here and follow the trail downhill. A short while later, you'll find yourself in front of the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf.
Important: There are no refreshment stops on this tour, so please bring plenty of water and provisions.
