From the largest lake to the deepest lake in Germany
The bike tour starts at the train station in Lindau am Bodensee. From there, you cycle towards Bregenz along the shores of Lake Constance.
You should head northeast and follow the signs for the Lake Constance-Königssee cycle path.
After approximately 45 km via Hergensweiler, Hergatz, and Gestratz, you will reach Oberstaufen. Continue towards Immenstadt. Almost 17 km of cycling takes you across meadows and fields until you finally reach the Alpsee.
You will have completed 70 km when you arrive in Immenstadt. Follow the signs to Rettenberg. First, you'll cycle along the main road for a section. Keep left heading north and you'll reach the Rottach Reservoir.
From there, continue to Nesselwang. You'll cycle through fields and small forests to Eisenberg and then Hopfen am See. The next destination is Füssen and then Schwangau.
Here you'll find Neuschwanstein Castle. After about 9 km, you'll reach Halblech. Here, you'll have covered almost 90 km.
It's now just under 60 km to Kochel am See: via Saulgrub and Bad Kohlgrub in the Ammergau Alps. From Bad Kohlgrub, you'll cycle southeast to Eschenlohe, and from there, you'll reach Lake Kochel.
Via Benediktbeuern, the route continues along the main road to Bad Tölz and from there to Gmund am Tegernsee – past small rivers and over a longer climb.
The route continues along the northern shore of Lake Tegernsee to Schliersee via Hausham and then along the western shore to Neuhaus. You have now covered a total of 70 km from Kochel before reaching Fischbachau.
The route continues via Bad Feilnbach, through the Leitzach Valley, and towards the Inn Valley. You will soon reach Raubling and Neubeuern. A gentle climb leads to Bernau am Chiemsee.
You have the option of taking a boat from Prien to Chieming. From there, continue to Traunstein and from there via Piding in the Berchtesgadener Land to Königssee. You follow the Saalach River to Bad Reichenhall. Heading south, follow the signs to Bischofswiesen and Berchtesgaden. After approximately 420 km, you will soon reach your destination: Königssee.
You can expect a driving time of approximately 6 hours per day, but this can vary depending on your fitness, stamina, and weather conditions.
