Moderately difficult via ferrata tour at the Stuibenfall waterfall in the Ötztal Valley
The starting point of the via ferrata tour is the Ötzidorf parking lot in Umhausen, which is about 2 km from the Explorer Hotel. From there, follow the hiking trail towards the Stuibenfall waterfall. At the first rest area, you will find the entrance via the rope bridge.
The first part of the via ferrata leads steeply uphill along the Niederthai rock face to a rocky outcrop, below which there is a small rest area.
Afterward, you follow a path across a scree field that leads to the second section of the via ferrata, the waterfall. There, you climb up the left side of the Stuibenfall waterfall to the exit.
If you're feeling daring, you also have the opportunity to cross the "Stuiben" on a wire rope and admire the 159-meter-high waterfall from a new perspective.
At the exit, turn right and descend on numerous switchbacks for about 40 minutes to the gravel area at the start of the via ferrata, and finally back to the parking lot.
The Stuibenfall via ferrata has a medium difficulty rating of C, although a large part of the route can be classified as B, with only a few crossings at C level. This makes it not too difficult and suitable for the whole family. There are many additional footholds for children, so they can also explore the Stuibenfall from the age of 10.
