Exposed via ferrata for experienced mountaineers!
The Wildfrauensteig is a stunningly beautiful via ferrata for you if you're in good shape and very sure-footed. The weather should also be carefully checked beforehand, as you should definitely avoid this route in foggy or wet conditions!
It's about 50 minutes by car from the Explorer Hotel, and parking is available at the Bosruckhütte. The route starts at the Arlingsattel via hiking trail 613, past alpine meadows, until you reach the so-called entry tower. Now follow the path, which is secured as a via ferrata, to the Frauenmauer, then continue over an exposed ridge to the Bosruck summit.
If you continue along the northeast ridge for a while, you'll reach the start of the via ferrata over moderately steep terrain. Right at the beginning, you'll encounter the crux of the route. This is a ridge spike that you must bypass on the left. The route now continues over a lot of walking terrain and slippery grassy slopes, which should not be underestimated! Rope protection is not always provided.
From the summit of the Frauenmauer, the trail resumes a firm path, and you can decide for yourself whether you need to secure yourself with your via ferrata set from this point on. From there, climb up a notch on the north side, along a short, narrow ridge, over a small steep section, then through gullies and finally over a wide ridge in a right-hand curve to the summit.
The descent follows the same route.
Surefootedness is a prerequisite here!
