The starting point of the tour is the Lechfall in Füssen. Approximately a 20-minute drive from the Explorer Hotel Neuschwanstein.
The tour is a circular route that can be shortened or extended as needed. This makes it a great option for family use. One option for extending the tour would be to walk around the Alpsee.
The first part of the route takes you to the Schwansee, one of the many bathing lakes in the Allgäu. It is located halfway between Füssen and the Alpsee. The tour continues to the next stop, the idyllic Alpsee. This mountain lake is also ideal for swimming, but has slightly cooler temperatures than the neighboring Schwansee. It lies between the mountains at the foot of Neuschwanstein Castle. From here, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the viewing point overlooking the castle and the Marienbrücke (Marien Bridge). Afterwards, you can take a wonderful break here and enjoy an ice cream or cool your feet. Here, you also have the opportunity to visit Hohenschwangau Castle, the former home of King Ludwig's parents. Afterward, it's back to the parking lot. A detour to the old town of Füssen is worthwhile; there are small, cozy cafés that invite you to linger.
