The hike begins at the Munde parking lot in Leutasch-Moos. The tour is perfect for your arrival or departure day, as it is on the way to the Ötztal Valley. However, it is also easily accessible from the Explorer Hotel Garmisch.
Here you will find the tour description for the stunning summit, which you can admire from the Inn Valley:
The approach to the Hohe Munde is via the eastern ridge. From the parking lot, follow a steep path to the Rauthhütte, passing through a forest section. Continue across meadows until you reach the Zugspitzblick. You then cross the mountain pine area and reach the gravelly terrain. Here you continue in steady switchbacks past avalanche barriers to the summit ridge. This then leads you directly to the eastern summit of the Hohe Munde. Optionally, you can now ascend to the western summit, which is 70 m higher than the eastern summit and can be reached through a rocky depression. Even though it's less frequented, it's worth it. The view is much more impressive and highly recommended!
The descent is the same as the ascent!
Alternative: The summit can also be reached via an easy via ferrata over the western ridge. This tour starts from the Gais Valley, but is a bit longer.
PS: If you arrive via the Fernpass, this striking summit will immediately catch your eye!
