Who loves hiking to mountain lakes as much as we do?

The starting point of the tour is the middle station of the Stubai Glacier Cable Car. You can reach it easily from the hotel either by bus or by car; you will find several large parking spaces on site.

From the middle station, hike towards the Dresdner Hütte, as this is the actual starting point of the tour. You now follow the signs towards Peiljoch. After about 2 hours, you should reach the first destination of the day, the Sulzenausee. This lake feeds the stunning Grawa Waterfall, which you should definitely pay a visit.

After the Sulzenausee, do not follow the Wild Water Trail, but cross a small bridge towards the plateau at the beginning of the glacier. You now follow the moraine until you reach the blue lake.

For the return journey, you can either follow the outward route or follow the descent to the Grawa Waterfall. Be careful if you arrived by car. Your starting point will be different from your starting point. If you arrived by bus, that's no problem – there's a bus stop very close to the Grawa Waterfall.

FACTS: The Blue Lake hasn't existed for very long, as it's a lake created by climate change. After the last Ice Age, the glaciers retreated, not continuously, but with repeated advances, the last major one in 1850. These advances left behind moraines in the high mountains. Behind one such moraine at an altitude of 2,294 meters, the depression in which the Blue Lake is located today was formed.
