Scenically impressive tour in Hinterstoder, Upper Austria
From the Explorer Hotel, you head towards the end of the valley, past the picturesque Schiederweiher pond to the cable car of the Prielschutzhaus. This is where the trail begins, steadily ascending you upwards.
As the sound of the water intensifies, you approach the first highlight of your tour, the Klinser Waterfall, via switchbacks. From here, the path continues winding uphill to the "Thank God Bench." Here, you've already completed a good half of the elevation gain to your destination.
You now continue to the Fairytale Meadow – from here, you have a particularly good view of the summit of the Grosser Priel. You then cross a high forest and tackle the final steep meters to the Prielschutzhaus.
The sunny terrace of the Prielschutzhaus invites you to linger against the magnificent backdrop of the Totes Gebirge mountains.
Not enough yet?
The refuge can be the end or intermediate stop of your hike. From there, you can climb the Grosser Priel or the Spitzmauer – however, these are very long hikes. The Blosskogel (1530 m) is reached more quickly from the Prielschutzhaus, which offers a fantastic view.
Climbing Eldorado
Around the Prielschutzhaus, there are more than 30 worthwhile climbing routes with difficulty levels II - VII. The climbing gardens can be reached in about 30 minutes.
