Follow Phillip Reiter on his trail run up the Schrocken.
The starting point is in the valley at just under 600 m elevation. After about an hour's walk, you'll reach the Schiederweiher. If, like Phillip, you're a bit faster, you'll naturally be able to complete the route faster.
Shortly afterward, you'll reach the valley station of the Hössbahn. Here, you can decide whether you want to shorten the tour or climb the full 1700 m. Otherwise, you can choose between the middle station (approx. 1000 m elevation to the summit) or the top station (approx. 500 m elevation to the summit).
No matter what you decide, you'll pass the next highlight either way. The Schafkogelsee is somewhat reminiscent of the Caribbean, and with the Totes Gebirge mountains in the background, it is simply unique and definitely worth a break.
Further towards the summit, the path becomes somewhat steeper. Shortly before the summit, there is a somewhat more technically demanding passage. A head for heights is required here! However, the section is secured with a wire rope, which you can hold on to firmly.
Then you have already reached your destination. Enjoy the unique view of the Schrocken and treat yourself to a short break, because the descent is still ahead of you.
The descent takes you along the same route as the ascent. However, if your legs are already tired, you can simply take the cable car back down to the valley.
Note:
The walking time and elevation gain refer to the middle station as the starting point. If you do the tour as a trail run, you'll obviously be a bit faster ;)
