The starting point of the hike is about a 20-minute walk from the train station in Garmisch.
From the Bayernhalle, a path leads to a small alpine meadow with a chapel. From here, the Krämerspitz is signposted. Follow the path to the Berggasthof St. Martin, then take the narrow Kramersteig. After half an hour on the path, you will reach a small viewing platform. You should definitely stop here to enjoy the view of Garmisch and the Zugspitze.
Towards the end of the path, it becomes somewhat more exposed and steeper, and you reach the summit through scree terrain.
The descent follows via the Stepbergalm. This leads west over the Predigtstuhl and on to the Stepbergalm. From the Stepbergalm, you can descend to the plateau via the Kreuzweg. If you have plenty of time, you can also take the path over the Gelbe Gwänd, which is more scenic but also longer. Both paths meet again.
At intersections, follow the signs for Pflegersee until you reach the familiar path again.
Good to know: The Stepbergalm is closed on Mondays.
