From Mayrhofen through the Stilluptal to the Kasseler Hütte

Beautiful bike tour through the Stilluptal to the Kasseler Hütte not far from the Explorer Hotel Zillertal

Discover a fantastic bike tour in the Zillertal along the Stillup reservoir and work up a sweat on the challenging climb through the Stilluptal.

Scenic bike tour along the Stillup Reservoir!

Start by car in approx. 25 minutes from the Explorer Hotel Zillertal to the Stilluptal toll station. Follow the toll road until you reach the Gasthof Wasserfall, where you can park for free. You also have the option of parking before the toll station at the Waldfestplatz. From here, you cycle along the toll road.

Now hop on your bike and pedal along the reservoir on a paved road. Follow trail No. 470 until you reach the end of the valley. From here, you continue on a gravel road, past the Stilluperhaus, to the Grüne Wand Hütte.

If you're in good shape, the approximately 2 km climb follows, along the alpine path, until you reach the ascent to the Kasseler Hütte. However, if you're already tired, you have the option of staying down by the lake and enjoying the view. If you've chosen to cycle further, you can recharge your batteries at the hut for the descent and, if the weather is good, enjoy the sun.

The descent follows the same route as the ascent. If you're traveling in a group, you also have the option of one person collecting the car and the rest of the group taking the toll road to Mayrhofen. Here, a few more switchbacks and a smooth descent await you!
