Explorer Tip: Less frequented ski tour on the Stuckkogel in the Kitzbühel Alps near Fieberbrunn
You start this tour at the parking lot below the Gasthof Winkelmoos in Pletzergraben. From St. Johann, drive to Fieberbrunn and then follow the signs towards the inn. The journey takes about 18 minutes.
The trail begins with the 'Talhatscher'. The relatively flat route now continues for almost five kilometers along the Pletzerbach stream on the forest road past the Alpengasthof Pletzer until you cross the stream at the second junction on the right and ascend along the alpine path past the Lachtalgrundalm to the first open meadow slopes.
Instead of continuing along the alpine road, climb directly up the steep eastern slopes and then stay on the right edge of the forest. A short steep climb now leads you northward onto beautifully undulating eastern slopes that lead up to the summit ridge. You skirt the rocky eastern summit on the south side to reach the summit ridge. Continuing westward around the southern ridge, you now reach the summit of the Stuckkogel (1888 m) with its summit cross.
For the descent into the Pletzergraben, choose a variant over the open slopes along the ascent. Once you reach the valley floor, you can glide back to the starting point at a leisurely pace with well-waxed skis and some pole use.
P.S. The Stuckkogel is also popular from Kitzbühel via the Bichlalm. The advantage of the ascent from the Pletzergraben is that it is less frequented and you ascend over the eastern slopes, which are sheltered from the wind and less exposed to the sun.
