Circular tour with stunning panoramas and a delicious mountain hut stop in the Zillertal Alps
The tour starts in Hippach. From the Explorer Hotel in Kaltenbach, you can easily reach Hippach by bus and train.
From the train station in Ramsau/Hippach, cross the Ziller Bridge to Hippach. Past the church, follow the Zillertal High Alpine Road (Bike Route 401), which leads you steadily uphill in many switchbacks. The climb is long. There is only a short flat stretch before the district of Mösl.
Shortly after reaching the tree line, you reach the Schwendberg toll station. This is where the Circular Route No. 420 Sidanalm - Rastkogelhütte starts. On the left, the route takes you along a gravel path past the Schafleiten Alm pastures to the Sidanalm. The serpentine climb now leads you to the Rastkogelhütte. At 2,124 meters, you've truly earned the view and the refreshment stop.
Route 420 now takes you from the hut via a feeder path back to the Zillertal High Alpine Road, back to the toll station. From there, you can take the path downhill and back to Hippach.
