Ideal for leisurely hikers and nature lovers
You usually start the hike from the Johannishof parking lot (approx. 1.5 km from the Hinterstoder village center) and hike into the side valley. You can also start the hike directly at the Explorer Hotel. This will extend the walk by about half an hour, and you will hike from the hotel towards the valley exit.
First, you cross the Steyr River and the path leads you past the Johannishof. From there, you continue hiking until you reach the Schiederweiher – a place often described as one of the most beautiful spots on earth. It's worth taking a short break here and watching the reflection of the Grosser Priel and Spitzmauer in the water. Incidentally, it's the region's most famous postcard motif.
Continue along the banks of the Schiederweiher pond towards Polsterlucke. You'll eventually reach the so-called "Polster," a farmhouse located at the foot of the Polstermauern (the padded walls).
Via the Klinserau and past the Klinsergut (where you can marvel at wild animal feedings, by the way ;) ), the trail continues on fairly flat paths back down the valley to the Schiederweiher pond, or rather, to the starting point, the Johannishof.
P.S. Fancy some homemade pastries? You can enjoy them once you've reached Polsterlucke.
