From Schönau am Königssee to the Jenner
The starting point of this ski tour is at the parking lot at Königssee – about 3 minutes from your Explorer Hotel in Berchtesgaden. In just a few minutes' walk, you'll reach the Jennerbahn valley station and the DYNAFIT Ski Touring Park for ski tourers. Here, you climb along the edge of the valley run and follow the signposted ascent trail. After the first few meters of elevation, a signpost points you to the forest road. The route takes you past the Pumpenhäusl (pump house) to the reservoir, and from there continues towards the middle station.
Tip: If you've reached the middle station and are longing for a short break, you can fortify yourself and have a snack in the restaurant at the Jennerbahn's middle station.
After the halfway point, the piste ski tour continues along the right edge of the piste and up over the Jennerwiese (Jenner meadow). In a wide arc, the trail leads to the beginning of the Spinnergraben, and from there, signs point you further towards the Hohlweg (sunken path). Due to the narrow ravine, it is important that ski tourers walk one behind the other at this point! At the end of the hollow road, the wide Mitterkaserkessel opens up. Here, follow the signposted path to the left up over the Jennersattel to the Jenner mountain station.
Once you reach the top, those who wish are welcome to take the path to the viewpoint and continue towards the summit of the Jenner. Up there, you'll have a fantastic view of Lake Königssee, St. Bartholomä, and the surrounding Berchtesgaden mountains.
You can return to the valley via the ski slope or the cable car (last descent at 4:00 p.m.).
