A fantastic bike tour along the Ötztaler Ache brook
The third stage of the Ötztal Cycle Path begins in Umhausen near Östen. First, you cycle past the sports field and cross the Ötztaler Ache brook. After the bridge, the path continues left into the valley. A few minutes later, you reach the hamlet of Leiersbach.
You cross the hamlet and cycle through a 3 km long, idyllic forest. Follow this path further down into the valley at the next intersection until you reach the paved road. There, turn left and cycle over the Ötztaler Ache brook (the road to Köfels leads to the right).
Immediately after the bridge over the Ötztaler Ache, turn right onto a gravel road, which you follow parallel to the main road. The bike path soon changes from gravel to asphalt and runs separately from the Ötztaler federal road and above the Ötztaler Ache over two newly constructed bike bridges.
After the second bridge, follow the gravel road, which branches off to the left and leads steeply uphill through a forest to the hamlet of Au. To reach the other side of the road, cycle through an underpass below the Nöslach Chapel. Then continue along the path until you finally reach the small hamlet of Au.
[ATTENTION: This section is extremely steep and requires some pushing! An alternative route leads for approximately 1.5 km along the Ötztal federal road and merges into the cycle path on the right.
At the beginning of Au, continue right towards Winklen and cross the Ötztaler Ache again. Shortly after the bridge, turn left again onto the floodplain, cycle, and hiking path.
From here on, simply follow the signs towards Längenfeld, always along the Ache. You will pass small wooded areas and large fields, as well as the Längenfeld bioheat plant. Cross the road and after a few meters you will reach the newly built Längenfeld rest area, from which you have a magnificent view of the expanse of Längenfeld. Here you will also find a fast-charging station for e-bikes.
Continue following the path, heading slightly east. After crossing a small stream, turn right and you'll reach Längenfeld's sports field and swimming pool.
