The Kalkalpen-Langfirst National Park Tour is one of the classic mountain bike tours in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region, but requires a certain level of fitness.

Popular mountain bike tour in Hinterstoder, Upper Austria

After a 25-minute drive from the Explorer Hotel in Hinterstoder, your tour starts at the tourist office in Windischgarsten and leads you through the town to the turnoff to the Salzatal Valley. After about 2 km, you will reach the turnoff to the former Patzl snack bar.

Shortly afterward, you will come to a forest barrier, which marks the beginning of the forest road to the Wurbauerkogel. From there, the trail continues with a moderate climb past the Salzahütte to the end of the forest road.

Shortly afterward, you will reach the first houses on the Wurbauerkogel. After passing through a farm, the path joins the paved road and takes you up a steep climb to Haslersgatter. Here, turn right and continue on the Groißenalm road. Soon, you'll be able to enjoy your first glimpse of the Kalkalpen National Park. The path climbs and descends, then continues to the Dörflmoaralm, the highest point of the tour, offering magnificent views toward the Totes Gebirge mountains. After approximately 300 meters, the descent begins on the gravel road to Zickerreith. Here, you can take a well-deserved rest and recharge with delicious alpine delicacies. From the Hengstpass state road, a short climb awaits you up to the top of the pass and then to the Egglalm junction. From here, cycle straight towards Rosenau, turn left at the intersection, and follow the descent until you reach the forest path. You will then reach the paved road Innerrosenau.

Following this road downhill, you will reach the intersection with the Hengstpaß state road, which will take you back to your starting point.
