With the Rotwand mountain in view, the Spitzingsee lake on the route and plenty of variety under the tires: This tour is just right if you don't want to experience Bayrischzell only from the valley.
The ride starts off relaxed towards the Kloo-Ascher Valley . The first few kilometers are a pleasant warm-up before the route gradually climbs towards Elendgraben. Following the stream, you'll gain altitude meter by meter until you reach the Elendsattel pass at 1,143 meters . The highest point of the tour is now behind you, and from here you can finally pick up the pace. The loop continues via Valepp towards Spitzingsee. Here it's worth slowing down briefly to enjoy the view. Afterwards, the route leads over the Spitzingsattel pass and down a gravel path into Josefsthal.
The second part of the tour becomes more relaxed. Passing through Aurach , Stauden , the Krugalm alpine pasture , and Geitau , you gradually approach Bayrischzell. The route alternates between asphalt, wide forest roads, and quieter gravel sections.
That's precisely what makes the Rotwand loop so special: it's sporty, but not extreme. A scenic highlight that you can enjoy even while hiking . And with several places to stop for refreshments along the way, you have plenty of reasons to take a longer break.
In the end, the odometer reads around 41 varied kilometers, and you're almost certainly thinking: I could do that loop again right away. ;-)
