Description of the bike tour to the Schweinfurter Hütte

The bike tour starts at the Explorer Hotel in Umhausen. From here, it passes the Bischofsplatz parking lot and follows the country road to Niederthai. This section already covers around 500 meters of elevation gain and you pass the panoramic parking lot, not far from the Stuibenfall waterfall.

In Niederthai, past the Sennhof parking lot, the route continues gently uphill on a wide gravel path, along the Horlachbach stream to the Larstighof snack bar. The climb now becomes steeper towards the Schweinfurter Hütte. The view from the sun terrace, with its view of the surrounding 3,000-meter peaks, certainly makes up for all the effort.

After a hearty break, return the same way to the Larstighof snack bar. From the snack bar, turn right onto the signposted Bergmahderweg, which slopes gently to moderately back to Niederthai, and from there along the paved road to the Höfle district. Here, follow the road to the left, slightly downhill, and after about 200 meters, turn right onto the Umhauser Höhenweg. The first section is a narrow hiking trail, which then turns into a wide gravel path and leads to Umhausen.

In Umhausen, follow the Kentalweg and Rosslachgasse towards the church. From here, continue through the village center to the left turnoff, which leads to Niederthai and the Bischofsplatz parking lot. From here, you'll head back to the Explorer Hotel Ötztal, where the Sport Spa awaits you.
