On the Trail in the Wilder Kaiser Nature Reserve
The starting point is the parking lot at the Gasthof Bärnstatt. Here, follow the signs on the forest path toward the Steinerhochalm (1,257 m). After about an hour, you reach the alpine pasture. The rooty Wilder Kaiser Trail, which is part of the Adlerweg trail here, leads to the Walleralm (1,171 m).
The descent to Lake Hintersteiner is via the forest road. The trail continues along the northern shore back to the Seestüberl. This trail circles the lake and passes the beach. If you don't want to continue around the lake, follow the signs below the alpine pasture toward the Seestüberl. From there, cross the road back to the starting point, the Gasthof Bärnstatt.
