Easy via ferrata to the mountain station of the Tegelberg near Schwangau

Via Ferrata Trail on the Tegelberg

The 'Gelbe-Wand-Steig' is the easiest of the three via ferratas on the Tegelberg.

There are educational panels with information about via ferratas and the correct equipment. You'll also enjoy magnificent views of the Alpine foothills and their lakes.

The approach takes about 45 minutes from the Tegelbergbahn car park. First, follow the paved road along the summer toboggan run. After about 20 minutes, turn right onto a forest path, which soon becomes a trail.

From the sign "Fasten your belt here," the trail passes the entrance to the Tegelbergsteig ©, secured with wire ropes. The entrance to the challenging section of the Tegelberg is easily recognizable by a steep iron ladder. This should only be attempted with appropriate experience. Immediately afterward, there is a rope bridge, which can also be bypassed.

Afterwards, there are more walking sections with occasional secured sections until you reach the exit of the Tegelbergsteig. This leads back to the 'Gelbe Wand Steig' in the upper section. From here, the path continues steeply up through the forest to the Tegelberghaus and the Tegelbergbahn mountain station.

There are several options for the descent, the most comfortable being the cable car. If you still have enough energy, you can also hike back to the starting point. Either via the Rohrkopfhütte or the Marienbrücke, with its fantastic view of the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle.
