Beautiful bike tour near the Explorer Hotel in Hinterstoder in Upper Austria

This tour offers you a beautiful view of the Garstnertal, the Totes Gebirge and the Kalkalpen National Park.

Garstnertal High-Altitude Loop Bike Tour in Hinterstoder

From the Explorer Hotel, you first drive for about 25 minutes to the Spital am Pyhrn Tourist Office, where your tour begins. From here, cycle along the B138 on the marked cycle lane towards Windischgarsten until you reach the Oberweng freight road junction, where you turn right onto the paved path. This will take you to the Flinderlmühle.

From here, follow the signs and cycle along a well-maintained, steadily ascending forest road up to the Pramfelder Reith. Here, you can take your first rest and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view – the inn is open from June to September. After a short break, you continue to the Schwarzkogel, the highest point of this tour.

Following the road, cycle downhill, past a lumber yard and the idyllic source of the Dambach stream. After about 5 km, the asphalt road begins, leading you to the Schneckenstraße junction. Cycle past the Innerrosenau Biathlon Center to the village of Rosenau. Shortly after the village center and the Maurerwirt Inn, turn left onto the Schneckenstraße road.

The steadily ascending path leads you back to Oberweng, past the Zottensberg Inn to the Flinderlmühle. From here, the path gently descends into the Teichltal valley to Spital am Pyhrn.
