Easy ski tour on the Pfaffenbichl near Hochfügen in the Zillertal
The Pfaffenbichl in the Hochfügen ski area in the Zillertal is one of the first tours to be accessible due to early snowmaking, and you'll be among the first to enjoy the groomed slopes.
Even in spring, when the lifts have already closed, the tour is still easily doable. The slopes usually hold up to the warm temperatures and foehn winds for a long time after a long season, so you can sometimes ski from the parking lot until May.
The starting point of the tour is the parking lot at the valley station of the Lamark cable cars in Hochfügen. From there, head southwest directly along the slopes along the edge of the forest.
At the Lamarkbach stream, switch to the left side and then simply continue following the piste, past the Lamarkalm Niederleger at 1,613 m and on to the Hochleger, already visible at 1,985 m above sea level.
Shortly before the alpine huts of the Lamarkalm Hochleger, the trail becomes a bit steeper before leveling off again. Behind the alpine hut, the trail continues pleasantly steeply in a left-hand curve. Then the route curves right again and runs parallel to, or below, the rocky structure of the summit.
Once you reach the Pfaffenbichl chairlift mountain station, you can leave your skis behind before climbing the final few meters on foot.
You can reach the summit cross by climbing up the rugged northern flank of the Pfaffenbichl, crossing the summit rock to the west, and then tackling a steep rocky or snowy gully from the south (approx. 15 minutes and 50 meters of elevation gain).
