(Sunrise) Hike to the Faltegartenköpfl in the Ötztal Alps
This leisurely hike on your hiking holiday in Austria begins at the Sattele parking lot. We highly recommend this hike, especially as a sunrise hike ;) Start by heading north, following the road until you reach the first sharp right-hand bend. There, take a shortcut and hike uphill across alpine meadows to the Feldringalm.
Now, continue past the alpine pasture and across an alpine meadow to the edge of the forest, ascending through a short stretch of woods until you reach open terrain. There, keep left and continue hiking east along the wooded ridge until you reach the rocky summit of the Faltegartenköpfl and have the summit firmly in sight.
Once you reach the top, enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Inn Valley from Telfs up to Karres, the Mieming Plateau, the Tschirgant, the Acherkogel, and the Pirchkogel. After thoroughly enjoying this dreamlike panorama, it's time to slowly make your way back down into the valley.
For the return journey, you have a adventure of choice: Either you take the same route you used for the ascent, or you hike from the summit along the ridge westward briefly to the distinctive Pirchkogel and, after a short descent, follow the signposts for “Marlstein” southwestward over the Feldringer Bögen, descending slightly.
After a short hike, you'll reach the Grünwalskreuz at 2027 m. From the cross, follow the signs for Feldringalm across the wide meadows. Shortly before the edge of the forest, you'll rejoin the familiar ascent path and return to the starting point.
We didn't overpromise, did we? ;) Now that you've racked up a good number of steps, you've earned a reward at the Explorer Bar! And if you still have some time during your Ötztal vacation, you can start planning your next tour right away ;)
