Tips for sustainable winter sports in the Alps
We love the mountains and mountain sports just as much as you do. And for this reason, we want to help you make your winter vacation as sustainable as possible. Without further ado, let's get straight to our 6 tips. Are you ready?
#1 Stay longer
Discovering a new winter region every weekend sounds cool, but it's not particularly environmentally friendly. So, consider when you have the most days for your winter vacation. Besides, a weekend always goes by so quickly, puts a strain on your wallet, and isn't so great for the climate ;)
#2 Choose sustainable accommodation
And now you can pat yourself on the back, because that item is easily checked off the list. As you know, Explorer Hotels are sustainable hotels in the Alps. Germany or Austria? That's entirely up to you. With us, you can stay with a clear conscience and protect the environment with your vacation.
#3 Stay on the slopes
Even though off-piste skiing is becoming increasingly popular, it severely disrupts the environment and places a strain on protected areas for animals and plants. Please always follow the signs so you don't run the risk of getting lost and leave an environmentally friendly footprint on your winter vacation.
#4 The well-known topic of garbage
You may feel like the topic of garbage has been discussed hundreds of times, but we'd still like to mention it briefly. To be sustainable during your winter vacation, it's important to take your garbage back down to the valley and, above all, dispose of it properly.
#5 Use all winter sports
Even if you're a passionate snowboarder, how about trying out a new winter sport this winter? Depending on snow conditions and availability, other winter activities are also available. Cross-country skiing, ice skating, or winter hiking? If this sounds more like a kid's outing for you, then take a cross-country skiing course, and we'll talk again when you can't manage the stairs to the sports spa in the evening ;)
#6 Discover the region sustainably
