Hiking to the Garnera Gorge in Montafon
Start at the Explorer Hotel. Behind the hotel, take the hiking trail along the Ill River to Gaschurn until you reach the Versettla valley station.
From here, follow the signs marked Ganeu diagonally to the left of the valley station. From the bridge, the trail leads along the Garnera stream. After about half an hour, you'll reach the Fenggatobel junction.
Here begins a beautifully landscaped, but strenuous, trail through the gorge. But as I said: persevere, because the views are worth it for your burning calves. Halfway through the wild gorge, the Garnera stream forms an impressive waterfall. Once you reach the Maisäß Ganeu, continue into the valley.
+++ The footbridge is only suitable for sure-footed explorers ;) +++
Alternatively, you can choose a different route. Where the waterfall trail begins, there's a fork in the path where you can take the forest road and then exit at the Maisäß Ganeu.
The descent to Gaschurn begins at the Schwizerhüsli. If you want to avoid the descent, you can reach the middle station of the Versettla cable car from the Schwizerhüsli in just under half an hour. You also have the option of exiting directly at the valley station, but instead of directly at the valley station, along the hiking trail along the Ill River, very close to the hotel.
This alternative route leads through meadows and forest to a small bridge, from which it's only a 5-minute walk along the Ill River back to the hotel.
