How much courage does it take to complete the Streif? Find out!
The Hahnenkammbahn cable car takes you up to the mountain station, where signposts lead you to the start house. This is the actual starting point of the hike. For downhill skiers, this requires full concentration for the 3,312 meters to the finish.
The signposts for the Streif Race Track hiking trail lead you towards the finish. The first highlight of the hike is the Mausefalle (Mousetrap) – with an 85% gradient, the steepest part of the descent.
Over the steep slope, you reach the Gschöss, the flattest section. This is followed by the old lane, a turbulent section with many changes in light and terrain.
The hike continues through forest and meadows to the Seidlalm. This is located halfway along the route and invites you to enjoy a delicious stop. Incidentally, this is where the idea for the Ski World Cup was born. After the alpine pasture, the trail leads through a forest to the Lärchenschuss and Hausbergkante sections, generally considered the most spectacular. Experts say this is the highest demand on both man and machine.
The hike continues to the Zielschuss, where speeds of up to 140 km/h are reached down into the valley. The Hahnenkamm road leads back to the valley station.
Those who prefer uphill can also start the hike at the finish and hike up to the start.
