Experience Vorarlberg's longest via ferrata in the Montafon region
Variant 1 with difficulty C
In half an hour, you can reach the start of the via ferrata above Lake Schwarzsee from the Hochjoch and Sennigrat cable car via a footpath past the Seetalhüsli hut. You can rent a via ferrata set and a helmet at the Seetalhüsli hut.
From the start, you climb south-southwest along the continuous steel cable to the summit of the Hochjoch. Two steeper traverses (difficulty C) require considerable strength and stamina, so the climb is definitely not suitable for children. However, the climb becomes easier towards the top, which is very pleasant. The highlight is undoubtedly the 60-meter-long and spectacular rope suspension bridge, just before the summit cross, which you can also bypass with a safety harness. The descent takes you via the Hochalpila Ridge (difficulty B), from which you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Rätikon, Verwall, and Silvretta mountain ranges, as well as the three mountain lakes Herzsee, Kälbersee, and Schwarzsee.
Filled with unforgettable impressions, the hike takes you back to the valley in an hour. You follow hiking route 4, the Seetal hike, to the Seetalhüsli hut at Kälbersee, where you can enjoy a well-earned snack. If you're still motivated afterward, you can paddle towards the sun on a stand-up paddleboard.
