Hiking in untouched nature from St. Johann in Tirol
The tour starts at the Explorer Hotel and takes you through the Mitterndorf district. After leaving the district, turn right at the chapel in front of the Krebsbach stream. From here, the trail leads you through the forest towards Aiglsau, then continues along a narrow path up to the Vorderern Klakstein, always uphill past the Leitnalm to the Baumoosalm. Here, the path branches off to the Baumooskogel (1506 m). A detour is definitely worth it.
The circular trail continues along a path past the Rote Wand (rugged rock faces). The view down below is not for the faint of heart ;-) At the bottom, the trail joins a forest road. This leads to Scheffau, the highest district of St. Johann. The trail continues through the forest towards Oberhofen and back to the hotel.
Extra tip: Don't forget your snack at the summit - there are no refreshment stops along the route.
