Road bike tour near the Explorer Hotel Oberstdorf
Approximately 20 minutes by car from the Explorer Hotel, you start your tour at the Viehscheidplatz in Immenstadt. You cycle along the southern shore of Lake Alpsee to Oberstaufen. From here, follow the signs towards Aach and cross the border. Via Krumbach and Hittisau, you reach Lingau.
You now cycle further to Egg, where you turn left onto the Bregenzerwaldstraße. You stay on this road for a few kilometers. At Bühl, you briefly leave it, as the tunnel bypass is closed to cyclists. Now you'll cycle comfortably through Mellau, Au, and Schoppernau toward Schröcken.
On the way there, you'll need to pedal hard, as you now ascend the Hochtannberg Pass. At the same time, you'll pass through many tunnels.
Once you arrive in Warth, follow the sign to the left for Reutte and cycle leisurely down the Lech Valley to Weißenbach, where you'll take the exit toward Tannheimer Tal at the roundabout.
From here, you'll have to grit your teeth again, as you'll have to pedal over the Gaicht Pass. Once you've done that, a fantastic view of Lake Halden awaits you. The route now continues towards Oberjoch and back to Germany.
The pass road winds its way down through numerous curves to Bad Hindelang. From here, you cycle leisurely until you return to Immenstadt via Sonthofen.
