Three Ruins Bike Tour to the Mountain Ruins on the Falkenstein
From the Explorer Hotel Neuschwanstein, cycle to the welcome square near the church in Nesselwang and cycle towards the church. Shortly before the church, turn left onto "Steinach" Street, take the next right, and then left again onto "Von-Lingg-Straße." Immediately afterward, turn right onto "Lindenstraße" and left onto "Poststraße," which you follow until you reach "Fichtenstraße" and the gravel road.
The gravel road leads you over the bridge to the right, and you follow the stream until you turn left towards Hertingen. The tour now continues through Hertingen, and at the next sharp left turn, continue straight ahead on the gravel road towards Pfronten-Rehbichel until you reach the paved road. Turn left here and after a few minutes you'll reach the town.
At the next junction, follow the direction of Pfronten-Kreuzegg, cross the main road, and cycle along a mossy path to Meilingerstraße. The next right turn takes you towards Vils and the river.
You cycle along the river, alternating first on the left bank, then on the right bank, and finally back on the right bank through the beautiful Alpine foothills to the town of Vils. Along the way, you'll see the Falkenstein, Germany's highest mountain ruin, which is one of the most beautiful sights in the Allgäu.
From the municipality of Vils, follow the signs and, after a steep climb, reach the mysterious Alatsee. The bike tour takes you around the lake and then to Weissensee. Along the western shore and later along the main road, you cycle to Roßmoos. At the overpass, you cycle to Wiedmar and then continue to Zell.
Here, a detour to the Hohenfreyberg and Eisenberg castles is recommended. Passing the Schlossweiher and Schweinegg lakes, you cycle leisurely along the Kögelweiher to Nesselwang, where you can look forward to a cool refreshment at the bar in your Explorer Hotel.
