On the road with the two professional mountain bikers Simon Gegenheimer and Marion Fromberger from the Mountain Bike Racing Team to the start house of the Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm (1,635 m). The two professional cyclists have each won an MTB World Cup and will take you on their tour today, starting from the Explorer Hotel Kitzbühel in St. Johann along gravel paths to Kitzbühel and then through the Legends Park. Commemorative plaques and small statues commemorate the successes of ski legends Christl Haas, Christian Pravda, Herbert Huber, and Toni Sailer. From the Hahnenkamm parking lot in Kitzbühel, the route climbs 8.43 km and has an elevation gain of 930 m. The climb is tough and requires a good level of fitness. You may have to push your mountain bike at times. The ascent to the trail takes about 2 hours. While riding up the Hahnenkamm on mountain bikes, the cyclists will finally share a few insider tips. Naming the most beautiful place for a mountain bike race isn't easy for the two of them. Over the years, Simon has traveled to destinations like South Africa, New York, and Australia. Marion, however, summarizes that Austria and southern Germany are also great places to cycle. Mega-strong gravel bike tour on the Kaiserradrunde around the Wilder Kaiser
Riding the Kaiserradrunde by bike: YouTuber Marius Quast shows you the impressive gravel bike tour around the Wilder Kaiser in Tyrol, Austria. It starts in St. Johann in Tirol. Then follow 84 kilometers and approximately 700 meters of ascent. You'll pass, among other places, the Bergdoktor practice, the fortress in Kufstein, and Walchsee. You can ride the tour both clockwise and counterclockwise. And if you need some support, you can also rent an e-bike at the Explorer Hotel. Right at the beginning, you'll gain a few meters of elevation. Then follows a shady forest passage. This is a welcome change, especially on hot days. The tour continues on paved paths past vast meadows. After a 30 km ride, you'll reach the idyllic Walchsee. It is picturesquely nestled between mountains. In summer, the lake is also ideal for swimming. So be sure to pack a towel. Marius continues directly to Kufstein. It's another 20 km ride. He passes very close to the massive rock faces and eventually turns into the Inn Valley. There, the Inn River forms the border between Germany and Austria. In Kufstein, you can stop for lunch and stroll through the old town. On the way back, it starts to rain. But the landscape suddenly takes on a mystical feel. How to plan your mountain tour or hike properly? Get tips from your mountain guide on scheduling, equipment, tour preparation, and more in the video! First, check the weather conditions for your hike before planning your tour. What does the weather forecast say? How many participants are coming on the hike? What is the fitness level of each participant? Select a suitable destination for your hike based on the number of participants and the natural and weather conditions. Use a hiking app or map for this. After choosing your destination, it's time to plan your mountain tour. The mountain guide will give you a rule of thumb for the ascent to calculate the duration of the hike. Elevation gain and distance are crucial. The descent depends on the condition of the trail. The descent when hiking requires approximately one-third of the ascent time. Always plan with buffer time! After a varied breakfast, the ski instructor prepares your skis at the workbench in the Explorer Lounge, and then your day of skiing begins. It all starts at the Harschbichl valley station. The ski instructor stops at the Harschbichlalm for lunch. Afterwards, you head down the red slope 6. The Penzing chairlift takes you back up. By the way, you can not only ski in the St. Johann in Tirol ski area, but also go ski touring. For this, there's the Dynafit Ski Touring Park with three signposted routes. Once at the top, Flo tests out the black piste 7. The piste is significantly steeper than the previous runs. With a view of the Wilder Kaiser, the descent continues towards Oberndorf.
