Did you know that one of the cross-country ski trails starts almost right here at the Explorer Hotel Hinterstoder? Before we reveal which one it is, we'll take you on a short excursion and give you all the important information about cross-country skiing in Hinterstoder. In Hinterstoder in Upper Austria, you can work up a sweat on 28 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. Half of the trails are groomed for skating. The longer cross-country ski trail in Hinterstoder is located in the valley. And the Hutterer Böden cross-country ski trail starts right in the ski area, at the mid-station. There's also a winter hiking trail here, but that's not the main topic ;) However, you should have some experience for the Hutterer Böden cross-country ski trail.
Do you need a trail to get used to it slowly? Then the Polsterlucke Skating Trail, an easy tour without any steep inclines, is just right for you. Dietlgut near the Skating Trail is the perfect place if you want to improve your technique or really work out. Now it's up to you which cross-country trail you want to try first 😎.
Cross-country skiing briefly explained
We keep talking about classic style or skating, and you're just thinking, "Huh?" We don't want to leave those questions unanswered.
In classic style, arms and legs are moved diagonally to each other on a groomed trail. This technique is perfect for beginners and is also easier to learn. In skating, you move similarly to inline skating and are also faster.
The Hinterstoder Ski School is located right next to the Explorer Hotel Hinterstoder. Here you can book a cross-country skiing course and get an introduction to cross-country skiing technique.
P.S. You can also try biathlon at the Innerrosenau Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon Center in Rosenau. (35 minutes by car)
