Unique Trail to the Olperer Hut

The trail to the Olperer Hut is about 50 minutes by car from the Explorer Hotel Zillertal, but it's definitely worth the effort, as it offers stunning views and a wonderful hut where you can relax!

Free parking is available at the Schlegeis Reservoir. From there, the trail begins. You keep following the lake, heading into the valley until you see the stream. There's a spot where you can cross it. Once you've done that, follow trail No. 502. The first switchbacks aren't far behind. You now head through a mountain forest until it thins out and turns into pine forest. You should bring a hat here in summer, as it can get very warm.

If you're out and about in the spring, keep your eyes peeled, as beautiful pink alpine roses grow along the trail. After following the trail for a while, you'll need to cross the stream again, and shortly thereafter, the Olperer Hut comes into view. This hut invites you to linger, offering breathtaking views of the glacier and the reservoir. A special highlight is the suspension bridge, which is a very popular photo spot.

Time to capture a few #ExplorerMoments. After that, it's time to head home. This takes place on the same route as the ascent.

If trail running isn't your thing or you're traveling with your family, there's also the option of turning the trail into a regular hike. This will take approximately 2-2.5 hours each way.
