Scenic trail running route in Farchant
You start this trail run directly at the Explorer Hotel in Farchant and head across the railway tracks towards the town center. At the ice cream parlor, keep left and then straight ahead (Am Gern, then Spielleitenweg) until you reach the playground.
Here, take the left path and run flat along the edge of the forest to the Burgrain hiking car park. After about 250 meters, turn right into the forest.
You now gain your first few meters of elevation on a wide forest road before turning left at the next opportunity and starting the climb to the castle ruins. Here, a root-covered path and steps await you.
But the effort is worth it, because the Werdenfels castle ruins offer a sweeping view of the valley to Garmisch-Partenkirchen with its ski jump, and you can even see the Explorer Hotel in Farchant from here.
You now leave the ruins through the other exit, walking past the Werdenfelser Hütte. When you reach the next fork in the path, turn left and follow the forest path, which now leads you almost in a circle, first toward Garmisch and then uphill again to the Pflegersee junction. Turn left onto the forest path and follow it to the romantic Pflegersee.
The trail run continues along the shore and past the lake's restaurant, then follows the gently ascending path to the Reschberg meadows.
The route now continues downhill until you reach the hiking car park again, or the path along the edge of the forest, where you can return to the hotel the same way you came.
Along the route, you'll find many signposts to help you find your way, or if you choose an alternative route.
